THE do-it-yourself disasters of an East Lancashire man were thrust into the national spotlight as he was featured 'live' on BBC TV's Noel's House Party.
Hidden cameras caught Barnoldswick father of three Paul Wellock as he watched the show at his mother-in-law's home in Sycamore Way.
Noel Edmonds reminded the "DIY hero" of the repairs to the drive, unfinished in nine years, and the doors he had removed and not painted in two years.
But the main focus was the bathroom which Paul of Elm Close had stripped and never replaced - leaving wife Janet and kids Adele, Aiden and Ashley with no option but to shower at gran's house down the road. "Do you realise that your five year old son, Ashley, has never had a bath or shower in his own home?" asked Noel. "Yes," replied Paul, whose laid-back manner had the TV star on his feet.
"Either he is the most boring man we have had on NTV or he is in a state of shock," he exclaimed, adding later: "It's like getting blood out of granite."
Noel 'punished' Paul by gunging him in slime in a make-shift shower he made him build in the garden.
But not before he told him his bathroom blues were at an end.
A team of workmen had been at the house that day to fit a new one - " for the sake of your wife and kids."
Paul's family and friends - even players from his favourite football team Burnley - were given a swipe card so they could get into the new bathroom. He was banned!
But the day ended well as Paul, who admitted to being shell-shocked by the attention, enjoyed an end-of-show party with the 'in-crowd' and the production team.
