ANGRY Glenn Roeder today slammed Second Division Northampton Town after revealing Swansea City have joined the chase for Nigel Gleghorn.
The transfer-listed midfielder was due to link up with Northampton this week on loan.
But the Clarets assistant manager was left fuming when Town manager Ian Atkins asked if they could take Gleghorn on a further week's trial - to get him fit!
"Ian Atkins has strung us along and that is not acceptable," blasted Roeder.
"We played everything by the book with Northampton and then they messed us about.
"We allowed Nigel to play at Peterborough for Northampton reserves last week with the understanding that Ian Atkins would give us a decision the following day. "I made it perfectly clear to them that we required a quick decision.
"But we ended up having to chase them and that is not acceptable."
Roeder added: "Then, when we finally hear from Northampton, they say they want to take the player for a further week's training to get him fitter.
"There is no chance of that happening. Either Northampton sign him or they leave him."
It has since emerged that Micky Evans was due to watch Gleghorn play at Peterborough last Wednesday.
And the ex-Swansea boss had made a firm enquiry about Gleghorn less than 24 hours before he resigned the Vetch Field post.
However, Roeder says that new Swansea manager Alan Cork and assistant Ian Branfoot could still pursue their interest in Gleghorn.
Roeder said: "That is a possibility still and it wouldn't surprise me if Swansea came back to us."
