THANK you for the chance to use your paper to praise the Women's Resource Centre in Blackburn. It is run by a brilliant bunch of people - women from all walks of life.
I happened to pass the building in Ainsworth Street, saw the notice in the window and, hey presto! my life was changed.
I always believed I was too thick to learn, but it was just lack of confidence. In no time they enrolled me on an introductory course for counselling. I got a certificate for that. Now I'm doing a college course.
I feel very positive now. I am using my new-found skills to help others in a voluntary capacity. The women at the centre have helped lots of people to help themselves.
If only I had met these people years ago, what a great, fulfilled person I would be. But at the age of 56, I am really starting to live and learn.
JUNE SANDERSON, Cartmel Avenue, Fern Gore, Accrington.
