GARY Peters was, understandably, very pleased to get that first away win of the season. "We played some good football, passed the ball well and deserved to win."
Asked about the controversial free kick he said: "It's something we have been working on. We checked it out, found that it was in line with the laws of the game and it came off for us."
Former top Football League referee Colin Steel was at the match and afterwards confirmed that "It was a perfectly good goal, the rules allow for a player in an offside position trying to get back on side and that was what the Preston players were doing."
I've never seen Peters as angry as he was after the Bristol match.
Talking about the referee's penalty decision he stormed: "we were cheated by a man in black. Even Bristol didn't appeal for a penalty. It was a terrible decision that cost us the match. He was the only one in the whole ground that thought it was a penalty."
