FOOTBALL is a funny old game - just ask the Shakers fan who COMPLAINED when the price of admission to the match was REDUCED!
But exiled Bury supporter Roy Cross, who now lives at Brundall on the outskirts of Norwich, does have a serious point to make.
Mr Cross, a Norwich season ticket holder since moving to the area five years ago, claims that Canaries boss Mike Walker is treating Bury like a second-class team.
His anger stems from the fact that half-price admission vouchers have been dished out for the Norwich against Bury game at Carrow Road on November 1.
Walker has sent a letter to all Norwich season ticket holders outlining a series of initiatives aimed at swelling attendances at Canaries' home games.
But Mr Cross explained: "I am a life-long Shakers supporter and think that the manager and players have done a great job over the last couple of seasons. And long may it continue.
"But the so-called big city clubs treat us smaller clubs with contempt."
Mr Cross claimed that cutting prices for matches against clubs which are seen to be unfashionable does nothing more than create bad feeling.
And in a letter to Mr Walker he says there are other reasons why Carrow Road may not be full for games against teams like Bury: "I received a letter signed by you which I find offensive to my team.
"The reason supporters are NOT coming to Carrow Road is because admission prices are too high and the team are not producing attractive, let alone winning, performances."
Touche!
Mr Cross is now awaiting a reply from Mr Walker and in the meantime let's hope Shakers can collect all three points on November 1!
Prices for Shakers fans at Carrow Road will be £12 for adults, £7 for juveniles and senior citizens. Half-price vouchers for the Norwich-Bury game were given out at the recent Norwich-Stockport County match at Carrow Road.
