STAFF at Booths supermarket in Leyland are going back in time to celebrate the store's opening 75 years ago.
Workers will dress up in 1920s' costume to welcome a vintage Warburtons delivery truck to the party which kicks off on October 24.
The first 74 women shoppers to enter the Towngate store will receive flowers, and a beautiful bouquet will be presented to the lucky 75th customer.
Preston North End's Deepdale Duck will sell raffle tickets in a fund-raising prize giveaway in aid of Derian House children's hospice in Chorley.
A price list from the store's opening year in 1922 shows a tin of tomato soup at three pence and a pack of digestives at nine pence. Customers would buy on credit and pay their bills only once or twice a year.
Soft soap arrived in kegs and sugar came in huge casks and was dark in colour.
Booths want to thank their customers through the Citizen and are offering readers a selection of goodies in a competition.
First prize is a chance for you to fill your trolley with up to £75 worth of groceries and a runner-up will receive a £40 hamper.
To enter, send the answer to the question below before Oct 31 to: Booths Comp (NET), Preston Citizen, 3 Winckley Court, Chapel Street, Preston, PR1 3JJ.
The question is: In what year did Leyland's Booths store open?
