SCIENCE teachers swapped bunsen burners for the shop floor when they visited a factory in Burnley to see science in action.
The group went along to see how industry today uses components such as PVC. The tour at the Farrington Road plant of Veka was part of a conference sponsored by the PVC sector of the Institute of Materials.
The firm was one of four companies in the north of England to open its doors to the science teachers and featured a lively question and answer session with plant bosses Peter Thompson and John Fitzsimmons. Some of them will be returning with their students to the factory later this year.
