FORMER Wales and Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Dave Felgate pulled off a stunning save in the dying seconds to keep Leigh RMI's FA Trophy hopes alive at Frickley on Saturday.
But it would have been a travesty had RMI not taken something out of the game. Their second half performance was worthy of a replay.
"It needed a frank discussion at half-time because in the first half we were second to everything," said manager Steve Waywell.
"Our second half display was a complete contrast. And, although Dave kept us in the competition with his late save, we certainly deserved a second bite of the cherry."
Frickley had taken the lead in the 21st minute after Mick Wallace conceded a needless foul.
Felgate then blocked a 25-yarder four minutes later and turned an angled drive round the post soon after.
Lee Cryer was then denied by a fine save after bursting through. In the 53rd minute, however, there was no stopping him: RMI forced three corners in quick succession and Cryer bundled the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.
"This isn't the first time we have only got our act together in the second half and we have to learn to perform for a full 90 minutes", added Waywell.
