RAINHILL-based Radio Briars Hey will be staging its eighth trial broadcast on air from November 24 to December 21.
The station is run by Channel Broadcasting which started life as a hospital radio 20 years ago and Radio Briars Hey will broadcast throughout St Helens, Knowsley and parts of Lancashire on a frequency of 107FM.
This is the first trial broadcast since the station's unsuccessful bid for one of the two local full-time licences last year. However, the organisers have not given up and a number of local people including St Helens Council leader, Mike Doyle and Gerry Bermingham, the MP for St Helens South, have given their support.
During the month-long broadcast, Radio Briars Hey will not only be catering for a wide range of musical tastes but will also feature local news, community advice and sport results from the lowliest school team to the professional players.
And as a special treat for the listeners, the Star's own Denis Whittle will be teaming up with radio commentator Alan Rooney for weekly discussions on Rugby League.
If you would like further information on getting involved with Radio Briars Hey, you can call their hot-line number 0151 431 1127.
