A RADCLIFFE widow wept as Manchester magistrates heard on Tuesday how she drove home drunk with her two children in the back of the car.
Jean Rivett, 36, aroused the suspicions of a police crew when they saw her driving without lights in the early hours of the morning.
And a breath-test revealed she was three-and-a-half times over the limit, said Mr Martin Hull, prosecuting.
Mother-of-two Rivett, of Ringwood Avenue, Radcliffe, admitted driving with excess alcohol and was fined £230 plus £40 costs and banned from driving for two years.
Rivett, who had never previously been in trouble, said that on the day in question she had received some bad news about one of her sisters.
"I had been drinking for most of the afternoon and then I had a couple of hours' sleep.
"I thought I would be OK, but obviously I wasn't," she added.
