A VERY special VIP will be the guest of honour at the opening of Bury's new Boots store tomorrow.

Five-year-old Aimee Read, who suffers from leukaemia, has been chosen to perform the opening ceremony at the new store on the Woodfields Retail Park.

Armed with a giant pair of scissors, Aimee, of Moorcroft, Edenfield, will cut the ribbon assisted by store manager Mrs Angela Paterson at 9am.

During the morning Cheko the Clown will be on hand to give out free helium balloons to everyone who goes along to join in the fun.

And Mrs Paterson will present a £100 cheque to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust on behalf of Boots.

Aimee was diagnosed as having leukaemia in 1994 but the chemotherapy treatment has been unsuccessful so far.

Her only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant, and the trust has organised several screenign sessions here in Bury, with the support fo the Buiry Times, to find a suitable donor.
