BATTLING Wesley Guilders are still determined to get a village green where homes have been built.

But campaigners still fighting for the land which Wigan Council sold to developers aren't pleased that house builders will be represented at next month's new village green hearing.

A Guild Preservation Group spokesman said:"The Council has allowed Wainhomes to be represented.

"Why Wainhomes should want to enter the process now and not earlier has yet to be explained.

"We will fight hard to ensure locals are not ignored and dismissed by powerful and arrogant cliques in the Council.

"The Group would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to fight for what we all consider to be part of the basic fabric of the local community."

The hearing begins at 10am on November 17 and 18 in the upstairs council chamber at Leigh Town Hall.
