ST HELENS Council leader, Mike Doyle is preparing to travel to Brussels later this month where he has been invited to take part in a top-level European summit meeting.
Mike will take his place alongside other leading representatives from across Merseyside who are meeting to discuss continued financial aid into the next Millennium from the European Commission.
Other key issues will include employment and transport and any changes which could result in more cash aid for St Helens.
Councillor Doyle said: "This strategic meeting will help promote our case for this area to continue to receive Euro funding in the future. Finance will continue to be a key issue well into the Millennium and we want to make sure that St Helens is at the forefront to take advantage of any opportunities presenting themselves to us."
