Chorley 2 Lancaster City 3 LANCASTER earned their first points in five games after an emphatic win over relegation candidates Chorley. City went down twice but fought hard and pulled ahead of Chorley late in the match to steal all three points. They won thanks to a good team effort, although extra credit has to go to Mark Thornley who made several stunning saves to keep it down to just two goals. Also, Dean Martin, who scored two fantastic goals which kept City in the match.

Chorley started off well with a goal in the 9th minute. Colin Potts picked the ball up just outside the 18 yard box and fired in an unstoppable shot.

The Blues equalised in the 41st minute when a bad tackle on Lancaster by Mark Jones, who was booked, gave City a free kick in a good position.

Charlie Boyd curled the ball into the box and it was met by Martin, whose towering header went over Simon Marsh, hit the underside of the crossbar and went in.

Chorley started the second half as they started the first, with a goal. In the 53rd minute, Matt Swailes picked the ball up, ran it alongside the defence and, as the defenders backed off, he fired the ball into the bottom corner.

But the Blues were not willing to give up and made it 2-2 five minutes later. Jimmy Graham's long cross was superbly flicked into the back of the net by Martin for his second of the night.

Then they stole all three points in the 77th minute with a well worked move, deservedly ending in a goal. Mark Dobie passed the ball to Dave Lancaster on the half way line. Lancaster's powerful run tore apart Chorley and his lethal shot could only be parried to Matt Flanagan, who volleyed the ball in the back of the net in his first game for Lancaster since last year.

Team: Thornley, Craven, Graham, Hartley, Jones (c), Flanagan (Dring 82), Boyd, Martin, Lancaster, Dobie, Worthington.
