A NEW estate of 30, four-bedroomed detached houses is set to take shape in Loveclough, Rossendale.
Councillors approved plans for the homes on a plot of land between Hapton Way and Goodshaw Lane.
The site is next to council land which is zoned for housing but has yet to be developed.
The estate will include public open space alongside the council land.
The estate road network will link with Goodshaw Lane through a kissing gate, which will take walkers on to a new footpath alongside the lane.
Local residents opposed the plans on the grounds that the roads were too narrow for large vehicles, views would be blocked and local school overloaded.
But planners over-ruled the objections and have imposed 10 conditions on development.
These include improved access, landscaping and car parking for contractors' vehicles.
