INDUSTRIAL giant ICI announced the closure of its Britannia Mill site in Darwen with the loss of 130 jobs. The closure, blamed on the recession, would cut ICI's workforce in Darwen by 25% and came after the loss of India Mill and Lower Darwen Paper Mill.
The company hoped to achieve the cuts through voluntary redundancies.
