STRIKER Andy Cooke has warned his future could be away from Turf Moor.
Super sub Cooke was Burnley's second half goal hero with a late winner against Walsall on Saturday.
But speculation continued today that Cooke could be the subject of a £500,000 bid from First Division Crewe Alexandra.
Gresty Road boss Dario Gradi tracked Cooke for eight months before Burnley beat Alex to the punch to sign the centre-forward from Welsh non-league football in a £40,000 deal.
Cooke said: "I've signed a contract at Burnley and I'd love to stay at the club.
"But if at the same time I'm not fancied here and I'm going to be sitting on the bench, I've got to look at my career and maybe look somewhere else.
"But that's down to the gaffer. I can only keep doing what I do in training and in games, week in and week out.
"Ever since I came to Burnley I've always found myself in and out of the side.
"However, I'm not giving up. I know the competition for places is fierce but I am determined to show Chris Waddle what I'm capable of." Suspension and injury blighted the first two months of Cooke's season.
Now, with the striker fully fit, the arrival of loan man Gerry Creaney has left Cooke fighting for the right to wear the number nine shirt.
"From a personal point of view I've had an up and down sort of season," added Cooke.
"I got caught with the suspension and then I had a couple of injuries.
"It is difficult playing in the reserves and then as a substitute. While I am a professional it can be hard getting yourself right for games.
"But as a player you have to overcome that.
"It can be very frustrating when you are not involved all the time. That's why I have to keep scoring.
"I've worked very hard to get to this stage in my career and I will continue to give it all I've got for Burnley."
