COLIN Hendry is at the heart of an anxious wait after sustaining a knee injury in Saturday's draw against Barnsley at Oakwell.
The player is being checked by a specialist, with fingers crossed that it will not keep him out of Blackburn Rovers' side for long.
Hendry had to limp out of the action after less than half an hour on Saturday and manager Roy Hodgson confirmed it was a knee ligament problem.
But there was no indication of the seriousness of the injury.
The hope is that the player has just tweaked or slightly strained the ligaments but Hodgson added: "Any injury which is to do with knee ligaments is something that is very concerning to us all."
Hodgson left Oakwell bitterly disappointed that Rovers failed to win.
"The goal we conceded was a corner kick headed out and struck in from 25 yards. You know these things happen but we haven't let in many goals and I would like to think that will not happen to us too often," he said.
A goal from James Thomas gave Rovers A team a 1-0 away win over Manchester City, while the B team hammered Manchester United 4-0 at Brockhall, Gary Hamilton (2), David Dunn and Craig Woodfield the scorers.
