THE advocates of a single currency are always stressing that it would be good for industry and for city-slickers in London.

No mention of the effect on ordinary people and their doubts. They, to all intents, can go hang!

As for Euro-enthusiast MPs such as John Lee (lately for Pendle), he should be reminded of what Chancellor Kohl said in 1995: "The future will belong to the Germans when we build the House of Europe."

What a prospect! Give me the "House of Britain" any day!
