York City 1 Preston North End 0

GARY Peters faced up to another setback before declaring: "I'm not going to run away."

The under-pressure Preton boss has watched his team nosedive into Second Division relegation trouble.

"We are in a sticky patch, of that there is no doubt. But I still believe we are going about things in the right way. It will come right and it is up to me to ensure that happens as quickly as possible."

Goal-shy North End squandered several great chances last night - Mark Rankine, twice, and the sadly out of touch Jon Macken the guilty men. And they were made to pay in full when Mark Tinkler volleyed home a right foot winner on 61 minutes.

The deal to bring Chesterfield striker Tony Lormor to Deepdale is expected to go through today. David Reeves will make the opposite move with North End banking £130,000 as a cash adjustment.
