Police are hunting two thugs who launched a vicious attack on a local man near the Marsh estate last week. The 25-year-old victim was walking home along Lune Road from the chippy when he was set upon, repeatedly kicked in the face, left unconscious and robbed of £65.

He was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with a broken jaw and later transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital for specialist treatment. The attack happened at about 10.45pm last Thursday night and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help piece together the night's events. They have issued descriptions of the robbers. One was 6ft tall, slim with dark hair and side burns, a thin face and prominent cheek bones. He wore a red elasticated jacket, jeans and was carrying a light coloured bag with a dark logo on both sides. His accomplice was in his 20s, 6ft tall and fat, with a crew cut and a plump face. He wore a dark jacket and jeans.
