I was amazed to read in last week's Citizen a letter from another resident of Bolton-le-Sands claiming that most of the shops here are closed.
Nothing could be further from the truth, one of the reasons I moved here from Lancaster was the fact that Bolton-le-Sands has a village centre of shops which are open and appear to be flourishing, the only thing we lack in shops is a local bakers.
True, there is no longer a bank, Nat West saw fit to close many of its branches recently. The dressmaker has gone elsewhere. It's only a short bus journey to Carnforth for greater variety if needed.
I am a senior Citizen with no car. I just wish that the buses had better access for shopping trolleys and pushchairs, that would be a big help.
Bolton-le-Sands is anything but dead. There's a lot going on here.
A Moncaster,
Bolton-le-Sands.
I wouldn't know as I don't live there... but it does seem odd that there should be two opinions of the state of the place. Any other readers have views on Bolton-le-Sands and its shopping facilities? Ed.
