HAVING lost their last five matches you could be forgiven for thinking that confidence is at an all-time low at the Lancashire Hawks - but Jim Pennycook is having none of it!

The player-manager insists his players will get it right as they look to reverse a run of just two wins in the last 10 games.

He said: "Nobody likes losing but morale and confidence are still high. Compared to other sides we have a very small squad so have to be realistic about our chances.

"While we have been losing we have given some of the big teams a real fright so we have to be optimistic. The team is working together better all the time and with a little bit of luck we can start winning again. The main thing is to start winning in front of our own fans."

The Hawks are on National League duty this weekend when they travel to Slough for the first time this season. And on Sunday they are at home to Kingston who have already inflicted three defeats on Pennycook's side.

The player-coach is set to play through the pain barrier this weekend, carrying a niggling groin injury as a replacement for Neil Abel. The defenceman is out for up to three weeks after breaking a bone in his foot.
