POLICE are desperately trying to trace a 15-year-old girl who disappeared from her Leyland home nearly three weeks ago.

Officers, family and friends of Zoe Louise Coughlin are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare after she left Glendale Community Home, Glendale Close, without word at 2pm on Sunday October 19.

Inspector Dave Stewart of Leyland police said blonde-haired Zoe had disappeared in the past but this length of time was totally out of character.

He explained: "Zoe had been in good humour all day so it was a complete surprise that she absconded.

"She had disappeared on two or three occasions in the past but never for this length of time. During the early days we were not particularly concerned with her safety but a lot of time has passed since then.

"Everyone is getting worried so we would urge Zoe or anyone who knows where she is to get in touch with us immediately."

Inspector Stewart added that all leads had been pursued including interviewing Zoe's family and friends at Southlands High School in Chorley: "We've exhausted all lines of enquiry. What we need is a sighting."

Zoe is 5ft 7ins, slim, with blond collar length hair, and blue eyes. Anyone with information should call Leyland police on 433561.
