I AM writing to you regarding the shopping trolleys that are left outside Hanburys in Darwen town centre.

I was in town last Saturday with my three children when my five-year-old son knocked one of these trolleys, causing it to roll down the pavement.

The trolley went out of control and hit a car. The man who owned the car was angry but understanding.

He could have made me pay for the damage but he didn't - for which I am eternally grateful.

But I believe that Hanburys and Kwik Save should also take some of the responsibility for this.

I think it is time they had trolleys which can only be released when you put in a £1 or 50 pence coin.

Netto and Iceland already do this, and they are taken back to the shop, rather than left in the street.

So please, Hanburys and Kwik Save, do something before someone is hurt.

Mrs Middlehurst,

Darwen.
