PAMPERED puss Leah is feline like a million dollars, well almost...

Diamonds are a girl's best friends and the lucky Lilac Burmese is strutting her stuff in 40 of the sparklers.

The treasured pet has been treated to the purr-fect present - a £20,000 cat collar.

The black velvet collar twinkling with 40 yellow diamonds and a gold fastener has been bought by her doting owners, David and Jil Atkinson.

The couple live in the Pendle area and are self-employed business partners.

And while Leah will be lounging around at home in her jewels, she will not be going walkabout without a moggy minder for the gems.

David, 54, said: "The collar is magnificent. She has other collars but none to match this. It's beautiful.

"We get great pleasure looking at it, and looking at her wearing it."

The diamond-studded collar also doubles as an evening bracelet for Jil, 56, but they are not letting the cat out of the bag to their pet.

David said: "We don't tell Leah as she thinks she is the sole owner."

The couple have other animals including dogs and a tame fox, but one-year-old Leah is their only cat.

David said: "We want the best for our animals, and if you can afford it why not pamper your pet? "

The couple commissioned the collar through the Petcentric store, in Accrington, owned by friend Kevin Horkin, and it was created by a Manchester jeweller.

The 40 diamonds are a celebration of the 40 years the husband and wife have known each other.
