LEIGH RU must rid themselves of their "Slow Start Syndrome".

Against Sandbach, however, it didn't matter. The Cheshire side shocked Leigh with a quickfire try and penalty.

Five minutes gone: 8-0 down.

Seventy-five minutes later that was forgotten as Leigh completed a 80-8 romp in a scintillating show of attacking rugby highlighted by super pack play with quick ball to the freeflowing backs.

The tries came thick and fast from Parker, Brown, Ross Bullough 2, Fletcher 2, Grainey, Wright, Hewitt and Bridge, Chris Lee banging over a succession of goals.

Minis & Juniors: U14s beat Oldershaw 17-10 (Vernel, Prescott 2); U12s beat Aldwinians 42-7 (Matthew Ashbrooke 3, Thomas Andrews 2, Patrick Walton; MoM Chris Morris); U11s beat Liverpool St Helens 54-7 (Crompton 4, Vernel 2, Pirrie, Taylor); U10s drew 20-20 with Aldwinians (Baker, Wood); U9s beat Aldwinians 35-0 (Adams 4, Harrison, Whelan, Hudson); U8s beat Chorley 60-25 and 35-25 (Dale Parkinson 6, Martyn Hall 6, Alex Marrow 3, David Sale 2, Gavin Critchley, Alan Whittle), then beat Orrell 35-5 and 15-10 (Marrow 5, Hall 3, Daniel Tustin, Sale, Parkinson).

ATHERTON RU lost a close encounter with Aspull 3rds, going down 21-15.

Lyons gave Atherton an early lead with a penalty before Aspull marched ahead.

A penalty try for persistent offside brought Atherton back into the picture before a super Sutton touchdown brought them to within a point.

Aspull, however, scored in one final surge.
