A VERY special person was chosen to open Boots' new £2.4 million Bury store.
Little Aimee Read got the superstar treatment when she was the guest of honour of the new store at Woodfields Retail Park on Saturday morning (Oct 25).
Five-year-old Aimee, of Moorcroft, Edenfield, was chosen to perform the ceremony in recognition of the heroic way she has coped with leukaemia.
She arrived at the store with her mum, Wendy, in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and was greeted by a round of applause from friends and relatives.
"She was a little bit nervous, but more excited than anything else," said Mrs Read.
After a quick tour around the store, which has created 65 new jobs, Aimee performed the official opening by cutting a ribbon with a giant pair of scissors.
Store manager Angela Paterson presented her with a goodie bag and donated £100 to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.
The trust is organising screening sessions to try and find suitable bone marrow donors to help save Aimee.
