POLICE are looking for a gang member with a conscience.

It follows a brick attack on a 13-year-old schoolboy in which his British Eagle mountain bike was stolen.

The attack happened near the Shakerley estate after school last Monday afternoon when a 14-year-old youth jumped out of undergrowth and hit the boy with a brick before stealing the bike.

Three other youngsters were nearby and one of them, described by Det Ch Insp Mike Whiting as "a youth with a conscience", went to the injured boy's help.

"I would like to speak to that young man," said Mr Whiting. "He obviously cared for the injured schoolboy and he went to his help, albeit that he was one of the group."

The attacker is described as: white, 14/15, short blond hair, wearing red top.

The stolen bike is a silver British Eagle Infinity .
