LANCASTER City have proved once again that they can play against the best teams and get a result. City become only the third team this season to get points against Winsford and started lively, coming close to a goal in the 3rd minute. Jimmy Graham's corner went straight over Winsford's defence but Mark Dobie's volley went wide.
But despite dominating the match, City always looked wobbly against Winsford United's star Winfield Steele. His speed, control and vision always looked a great threat to the Dolly Blues.
Steele appeared to have scored in the 15th minute when his run cut through the City defence and he took the ball around City's keeper to score. Fortunately for Lancaster, the referee disallowed the goal claiming that he had fouled the keeper Kennedy.
There were no surprises when he sped through City's defence in the 62nd minute and coolly slotted the ball past City's keeper.
City's reply came eight minutes later with a superb goal form Dean Martin. His run left Winsford's defence for dead and he powered in the ball from a diving header after a Jimmy Graham free kick, which gave City a well deserved draw.
Lancaster's next match is home against Emley and they can look forward to the possible returns of Jay Flannery, Alex Jones and Gary Worthington.
Team: Kennedy, Phillips, Graham(c), Hartley, Pallant, Leitch, Boyd, Martin, Lancaster (Jackson 78), Dobie, Goulding (Creed 65).
