AN unsettled striker said to be interested in playing for Morecambe left the Shrimps with a superb three-goal calling card on Saturday. Andy Milner, who is currently on loan to Hereford from Chester, bagged a hat-trick to sink the Shrimps after they had taken an early lead. Manager Jim Harvey was philosophical about the thrashing, claiming that the titanic struggle against Halifax had taken its toll on the players, but Morecambe will be wishing Milner was on their books.

The striker, who used to play for Netherfield and has family in the Bay area, has let it be known that he would look favourably at a move to Morecambe.

A member of his family told the Citizen: "He's still on Chester's books but is not settled at the moment and would be open to offers."

Saturday's match in front of nearly 2,000 fans started brilliantly for the Shrimps when Ian Heany went on a superb run to score in just the second minute.

Hereford equalised in the 22nd minute when Ian Foster was given all the time in the world to place his shot.

The Bulls got their heads down and took control of the match.

Keeper Banks fumbled a shot and Milner was gifted a simple tap in just before half time.

Then straight from the restart he caught the back four napping and struck the ball into the net for Hereford's third. Morecambe's misery was compounded with Milner's hat-trick, a cracking 20 yard shot, and the sending off of Dave McKearney for his second bookable offence.

Hereford hit the post with another attempt as they laid siege to Morecambe's goal finally breaching the defence in the 90th minute when Banks was lobbed by Cook.
