PEOPLE in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale will be paying their respects this weekend to men and women in the armed forces who gave their lives for their country.
In Burnley the Remembrance Day events will start tomorrow at 10.30am when the Mayor, Coun Enid Tate, will walk through the town centre accompanied by Eric Midgley, public relations officer of the town's Royal British Legion.
She will later sell poppies at the shop on Yorkshire Street.
Explosions will be set off across Pendle to mark the start and end of two minutes silence at 11am on Tuesday next, November 11.
Maroons will be sounded from town halls in Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick and the silence will be observed by staff in Pendle Council buildings and other places across the borough.
Services on Sunday are:
BURNLEY: Assemble at town hall 10.25am before procession to Garden of Remembrance, service at 10.50am, wreath-laying followed by march past.
WORSTHORNE: Service at St John's Church at 10.30am, invitations made to councillors, Burma Star organisations and RAF Association.
CLIVIGER: Special service at St John the Devine, Holme in Cliviger, at 10.30am before wreath laying at war memorial.
PADIHAM: Assemble Station Road 9.30am for procession to Nazareth Unitarian Chapel for service then proceed to Cenotaph for wreath-laying.
BARNOLDSWICK: Assemble in town square at 2.45pm for procession to cenotaph for 3pm service via Newtown, Station Road and Wellhouse Road. BARROWFORD: Service at 10.30am at St Thomas' Church, Wheatley Lane Road, followed by service at noon at cenotaph in Barrowford Park.
BRIERFIELD: Assemble at cenotaph at 10.55am. Short service will follow two minutes silence at 11am; fuller service at Brierfield Methodist Church.
BLACKO: Service at 10am at the cenotaph followed by a service at Blacko Independent Methodist Church.
COLNE: Assemble at Royal British Legion, Keighley Road, at 10.30am for procession to war memorial for service at 10.50am.
EARBY: Assemble at former council offices, Colne Road, at 2.55pm for procession to the cenotaph at Sough Park for service at 3.15pm. After the service the procession will return to the council offices.
FENCE: Service at the cenotaph at 10.30am.
FOULRIDGE: Service at the parish church at 10.30am followed by another short service at the cenotaph at 11.30am.
HIGHAM: Service and wreath-laying ceremony at St John's Church at 10.45am.
NELSON: Assemble at the Royal British Legion, Brunswick Street, at 1.30pm for procession to the cenotaph for service. Parade will return to British Legion afterwards.
NEWCHURCH-IN-PENDLE: Service and wreath-laying at St Mary's Church at 9.30am.
TRAWDEN: Service at parish church at 10am followed by short service at the cenotaph at 11am.
HASLINGDEN: Procession leaves Royal British Legion Club at 9.50am for cenotaph.
HELMSHORE: Procession leaves Airtours at 9.30am for service at war memorial.
STUBBINS: Dedication of Garden of Remembrance and wreath-laying at Scapa Forming at 12.15pm.
BACUP: Procession leaves Conservative Club at 2.30pm for service at cenotaph.
RAWTENSTALL: Assemble The Valley Centre at 2.40pm for procession to cenotaph for service and wreath-laying.
ROSSENDALE: Festival of Remembrance at Haslingden Public Hall at 8pm.
