IN this increasingly litigious age it is refreshing to see a minnow take on a multi-national company and win.
Melissa Lambton, 17, of Wellingborough, Northants, was made redundant by a Texaco petrol station where she sold lottery tickets. But a few weeks later they took someone else on to do the same job.
Armed with a law book and £70 worth of advice from a local solicitor she faced a corporate barrister at an industrial tribunal, won her claim for unfair dismissal and was awarded £1,008 compensation.
Most people, never mind a teenager, would have been petrified at taking on a multi-national.
It is nice to see that the little person still has a chance if the determination is there.
