THE headteacher of Westholme Middle School paid a glowing tribute to the dedication and commitment of its teachers and pupils.
Betty Aspden was speaking at the annual speech night when she looked back on the achievements of the school, at Beardwood Bank, Blackburn.
She said: "I must pay tribute to staff and pupils alike for their immense contribution to the success of this and other occasions when they rise to the many challenges that have been set.
"I do receive many compliments from visitors who comment on the friendliness and courtesy of the pupils and the very high standard of the various displays of children's work, both in the classroom, and in the public areas.
"I count myself as most fortunate in having the backing of the teaching staff who share a common vision and I thank them for their dedication, commitment and enthusiasm."
She said the highlight of the year was the opening of the new school wing in June.
Another highlight was the non-uniform day which raised £561 for Comic Relief.
