LOUISE Woodward supporter Paul Hill is sending a letter a day to the Cheshire nanny in her American prison cell.

Paul, 25, of Basil Street, Colne, is also organising charity concerts, including one with comedian Bernard Manning, at his Manchester club to raise money for the campaign.

Paul said: "I have been following the trial from day one and what has happened is a total injustice. She is completely innocent.''

As well as opening a telephone helpline and organising the concerts, starting with a two-hour comedy drag show, possibly with a local celebrity on Sunday, Paul is also organising a petition to be sent US president Bill Clinton calling for Louise to be released.

He said: "I have sent messages of support to her every day and have been in constant touch with her lawyers through an office in Boston to get up-to-the minute information.

"I have also been in regular touch with the campaigners at her home village of Elton in Cheshire.''

Sunday's event will be held locally with details available by ringing the helpline on 01282 859067.

Transport will be made available for the trip to the Bernard Manning event and a family event featuring children's entertainer Silly Billy is being organised at Colne Municipal Hall.

Paul also has a supply of yellow ribbons to be displayed until 19-year-old Louise gets her freedom and comes home.

He said: "If people telephone the helpline I can give addresses for the passing on of messages of support to help maintain her spirits.

"But we also want to do more such as by petitioning Bill Clinton for justice.''
