MULTI-MILLION pound plans to take Bury into the next century went on show at Radcliffe Civic Suite.
Local businesses turned up at the launch of the Single Regeneration Budget to see how it will benefit the borough.
Under the SRB, some £6.4 million of government cash has been won by the Bury Strategic Partnership to boost investment and jobs training in the borough.
The award should lever in a further £35 million of private and public money over the next seven years.
Partners in the scheme range from Bury Council to Bury College, Bolton Bury Training and Enterprise Council, including Business Link and Bolton and Bury Chamber of Commerce.
Among the speakers at last Thursday's launch was Bury South MP Ivan Lewis, who welcomed the fact that "at long last" Bury had attracted investment. He said: "This is a genuine partnership between public, private and voluntary groups to ensure that the money is used to maximum effect to boost the local economy and local jobs."
