BONFIRE Night proved one of the busiest evenings of the year for hard-worked Bury fire crews.
They were inundated with calls throughout the night, but thankfully there were no reports of any serious incidents or injuries.
Bury-based Station Officer Mr John Pollitt said: "Many of the calls were made with good intent, false alarms relating to bonfires people thought may be out of control.
"We had to put out one or two bonfires which had been left burning. It was one of the busiest nights I've ever known."
Meanwhile, Whitefield fire station answered only a handful of bonfire-related call-outs.
Much of their shift was spent tackling a scrapyard blaze in Bolton. There were no reports of any firework-related injuries. Wednesday night saw hundreds of people attend organised bonfire and firework displays throughout the Bury area.
