AN ELDERLY man today remained comfortable in hospital after fracturing his ribs in a collision with a car at an accident blackspot.
Walter Young, 83, of Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle, was injured crossing Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
Paramedics took him to Blackburn Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for bruising to the head and fractured ribs.
The car was driven by Jean Solati, 41, of Britten Close, Blackburn.
Several serious accidents have occurred in Union Road recently and calls have been made for new safety measures.
Nine-year-old Jolene Lindsay, of Bright Street, Oswaldtwistle, died after suffering serious head injuries in a collision with a car.
Hyndburn councillor Peter Britcliffe, whose ward covers the Union Road area, is now writing to the police and Lancashire County Council to ask for action to make the road safer.
