CHRIS Waddle is likely to trawl the loan markets again over the next few days but admits that Andy Cooke's expected promotion back to the first team could leave him with something of a dilemma.
Cooke was set to renew his attacking partnership with Paul Barnes at Millmoor this afternoon, but the Burnley player-manager knows he needs re-inforcements for his two remaining senior strikers.
Gerry Creaney's departure instigated the problem and Waddle admitted: "I might have to look to get somebody in on loan.
"But they will want to play in the first team and if Cookey grabs the shirt, I will have to get the right sort of guy who is going to be prepared to be on the bench.
"That can be a problem if you are bringing somebody in on loan."
Waddle is not writing off the other strikers he has at the club - and he is still interested in non-League man Kevin Henderson, as well as Linfield's Richard Barker.
But he knows any of those players would probably need time rather than being ready to do a job now at Second Division level. "Phil Eastwood and Colin Carr-Lawton are promising players for the future and, with a bit more experience, they will have a lot of things going for them.
"But you are looking more to next season as far as they are concerned.
"At this moment, we need a bit of experience and know-how. It's very frustrating because Gerry Creaney did well for us and, all of a sudden, he's gone."
Waddle is expected to discuss a possible deal with Morpeth Town and Henderson over the next couple of days.
The striker is keen to try his luck in League football but it could depend on what he has to give up with a full-time job.
There is also the option of taking Barker, who is under contract but might be released by Linfield.
But Waddle pointed out that both players would probably need a period of adjustment and he needs an answer to his problems now.
Former Burnley boss Jimmy Mullen is one of the people being considered for the Glentoran manager's job, vacated recently by another former Turf Moor man Tommy Cassidy.
