MORE than 20 computer staff at British Steel's Blackburn site are to be transferred to a new employer, as part of a £400 million deal.
Information technology consultants Cap Gemini are taking over most of the computer support for the steel firm.
The agreement will involve the transfer of more than 600 British Steel IT jobs, including 24 at the Blackburn site, to Cap Gemini. There will be no redundancies involved in the transfer.
Cap Gemini will now be responsible for supporting more than 7,000 computer terminals throughout British Steel's UK sites.
