LFA Youth Cup 2nd rnd: Blackburn Rovers 2 Blackpool 1
ROVERS made hard work of seeing off a bruising Blackpool side, who paid for their indiscretions with two bookings and a first-half dismissal at Ewood last night.
Yet Blackpool took the lead through Adam Nowland (25 mins), while Rovers were still waiting to replace the hobbling David Dunn, victim of one bad tackle.
When Lee Shockledge was sent off (33 mins) for an awful challenge, Rovers finally started to get the ball down and play and a lovely move between Paul Forsyth and Craig Woodfield set up Gary Hamilton to head the equaliser.
It was one-way in the second half with Andy McAvoy, Martin Taylor, Keith Brown and Jon Topley all close to scoring the winner. It finally came from sub Paddy Connolly (85 mins), though Blackpool threatened on occasional dangerous breaks.
Connolly had only been on a minute when his delicate header from the hard-working Woodfield's cross clinched a deserved win.
ROVERS: Stewart, Scates, Taylor, Brown, Topley, McEvoy, Dunn, Richards, Forsyth, Hamilton, Woodfield. Subs: Baldacchino (fdor Dunn 27 mins), Connolly (for Hamilton 84 mins), Lomax, Whittle, Bingham.
