WREXHAM chairman Pryce Griffiths has apologised to Burnley soccer fans following the "overcrowding" furore at last month's Racecourse Ground clash.

But he is sticking to his guns in insisting there were enough seats for the Clarets' supporters in the Marstons stand.

Angry fans complained they had to stand in aisles and at the back of the stand because of the lack of seating.

The standing paddock was eventually opened for Burnley supporters before half time, but complaints poured in, with some fans demanding their money back.

But in a letter to Burnley chairman Frank Teasdale, Mr Griffiths says the Burnley attendance was 2,069, while the stand had a seating capacity of 2,240.

The letter, published in the programme for last night's Clarets' clash with Millwall, says: "I have also had the opportunity to view the CCTV video of the Marstons Stand, which clearly shows empty seats in some sections.

"Once more with the benefit of hindsight, I think it will be the norm that all Burnley games at Wrexham will in future be all ticket for Burnley fans.

"In closing, may I apologise for any inconvenience caused to Burnley supporters and hope that the two clubs can continue in the truly amazing bond of friendship which has been built up over a number of years."
