Green Hall School in Atherton is 40 years old!
And to celebrate its ruby anniversary the school is holding an Open Day on Friday, November 21, with former pupils also being invited to drop in for a special get together between 9.30am and 11am or from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
The school hall will be decorated with old photographs and headteacher Tony Triska, who joined the school in 1982 as deputy head before taking over the headship in 1985, is hoping to have a 1957 video running throughout the day to remind visitors of life as it was in that year.
Mr. Triska said: "It is a privilege and pleasure to be the Head of this happy school at such an important time in its history. I was here when we celebrated our silver anniversary, but 40 years is very special.
"We all hope to see a lot of old, and some not so old, faces at our Open Day. Meanwhile if any former student, teacher or member of the support staff wants to know more, or can tell us more about those early years, we hope they will contact the school as soon as possible."
Mr. Triska can be contacted on 01942 883928.
