RUGBY-MAD Euro MP Terry Wynn was chairman of his dream team for just three days.

The Leigh-based, Wigan RL fan was still dreaming of leading the Warriors out at Wembley after being asked to lead a Central Park syndicate.

But it all became pie-in-the sky just a few days later when Mike Nolan and John Martin took control.

Terry was in Washington when Leigh businessman Arthur Thomas invited him to join a team which would formulate a route to recovery for the in-red Super Leaguers.

Terry was still walking on air when he was then asked to join the elite as chairman.

Terry told The Journal:"I asked them to give me 24 hours to think about it, but in my heart it only took me 24 seconds to decide!"

He'd been selected because trouble-torn Wigan needed someone their bewildered supporters could trust and look up to in steering the club back to Number One spot.

And he vowed to do everything he could to achieve that end. But the shareholder and season ticket holder never got to chair a board meeting.

He said:"I was honoured to be offered the position and believe the proposals would have worked. I wish the new board well."
