TIME after time I hear the same comments regarding the situation of those living near to Xanadu - "I can understand the fears of local residents but the pluses outweigh the minuses," and "I sympathise with locals who live near to the site but this is a case of the needs of many outweighing the needs of few." In other words, we're all right, tough on you!
It is obvious that some people do not give a damn about those who live in close proximity to this development as long as they are not affected by it.
We are labelled as scheming objectors, whingeing and moaning about this project. What we are doing is exercising our democratic right to object to something that would drastically reduce our quality of life, as I am sure anyone would do.
Although we (Green Party/Residents Against Xanadu) did not win the Hope Carr by-election, the amount of support we received was excellent, gaining over 30% of votes against Labour's 49%. I would like to thank everyone who voted for us (we had Labour really worried) and ask for their continued support.
We will continue to object to this development in the strongest possible terms.
Mr Alex MacLachlan, Director of Moorfield Estates, stated recently: "We are not going away." Neither are we.
