Atherton C&N scored a 2-0 win against Queens, who reckon they deserved at least a share of the points after dominating the match, particularly in the second half when C&N keeper Ian Brett was repeatedly called into the action. And when he failed to save his team the woodwork did!
Good work, too, from 16-year-old referee David Green, who hails from Tyldesley. It was his second game in control - and he earned high praise.
In Division Two Hag Fold WMC consolidated top spot by beating Leigh Arms 4-0, Brian Hupton, Phil Green, Stephen Birt and John Hall on the mark.

It was a credit to both teams and officials that this game was able to be played. New Inn's field was left unplayable by vandals and the match was switched at short notice to Marsh Playing Fields.
