HULA Hoops, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Buzz Lightyear dolls, Cyberpets and now: Teletubbies. All these toys have been the craze of all crazes, but now it's the turn of the cuddly fluffy creatures with cathode ray tubes for guts and a limited grasp of spoken English.

Dipsy, Laa Laa, Tinky-Winky and Po live in a grassy knoll surrounded by hyper-large rabbits, and, as frustrated parents the length and breadth of Britain will know, they are the present every child wants this Christmas - and you can't buy them anywhere.

But one lucky youngster at Bury Grammar Kindergarten could well find a Teletubby in their stocking come Christmas morning. The school has managed to track down one of the elusive creatures, and are raffling off the toy - Dipsy, as it happens - for school funds.

Pictured are sixth formers Rachel Smethurst (17, left) and Melissa Hilton (17) keeping a tight hold of Dipsy. Looking on are youngsters from the Bury Grammar Kindergarten hopeful of getting their hands on the doll.
