Haydock 32 Hindley 6 HAYDOCK marched in to the Barla Lancashire Cup semi-finals for the first time in their history with this commanding performance.
Hindley had not been beaten previously this season, but Haydock started like a house on fire and in the first 10 minutes had two tries disallowed.
But on 11 minutes they kept the ball alive on the last tackle and winger Wade squeezed in at the corner.
Strong runs by Bloor, Scott and Fearnley made headway for Haydock and when Haughey launched a great bomb Abbott followed up to touch down. Ireland converted and Haydock were in the driving seat.
The purple patch continued when a great pass by Lowe put Bloor into open space for a fine try, converted by Ireland.
Two drop goals and a penalty by Haughey made it 20-nil at the break.
After the break Hindley tried to get back into the game and for 20 minutes they put Haydock out of their stride.
It resulted in a converted try for the Wiganers.
But Haydock struck back with another Haughey penalty. And in the final 20 minutes they piled the pressure on. Lowe powered over from 10 yards and with four minutes to go Bloor grabbed a well-taken try. Haughey converted.
Best for Haydock were Bloor, Ireland, Scott, Lowe and Haughey.
Wigan St Cuthberts under 13s 28
Haydock Warriors 10
The Warriors were their own worst enemies as they tried to be too adventurous in difficult conditions.
They found themselves trailing 22-nil at the break, but came back after the interval.
It resulted in tries for Wayne Dollin and the Craddock and Lamb man of the match Gary Naughton, with Danny Gee adding the conversion. Encouraging performances came from Chris Lloyd, Chris Pilling, Phil Pennington and Danny Lyon.
