SERVICMEN and women who gave their lives for their country were honoured in silent tribute at Remembrance Sunday ceremonies across the area.
Veterans marched from the British Legion headquarters to the cenotaphs in Nelson and Colne, where the gatherings were led by Pendle's Mayor Councillor Mrs Jo Belbin in laying wreaths.
Local councillors represented the Mayor at villages throughout the borough for similar services.
In Burnley Dean Leo Heakin, of St John's RC Church, conducted a service at the Remembrance Lawn in Parker Lane.
The Mayor Councillor Mrs Enid Tate took the salute from members of the British Legion and youth groups in a parade led by Burnley Pendle and Rossendale Sea Cadets band before going to the War Memorial in Towneley to lay a wreath.
On Tuesday, the sound of maroons echoed from Barnoldswick to Padiham to signal the start of two minutes' silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
