SHOPPERS across East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire will be told that 'Burnley's Buzzin' in the run up to Christmas.
The campaign to boost festive trade is centring on the bee logo which proved such a hit last year.
Shopping guides and A5 flyers will be posted to houses in Burnley and neighbouring towns and radio advertising will be used to target people in the Todmorden and Halifax areas.
Clarets manager Chris Waddle is the celebrity switching on the Christmas lights on November 27, and the event will be marked by fireworks, a children's show and a parade through the town centre.
As usual, late-night shopping is on Thursdays, and Sunday opening is 10.30am-4.30pm.
"The campaign aims to position Burnley as a quality shopping destination, encourage more support from the direct Burnley area and attract more visitors from outlying districts, raising the profile of the town to both shoppers and retail investors," says Joanne Etherington of economic development.
Last year some Christmas shoppers said they were bothered by intimidating youths, and this year the issue has been raised with the police, who have said they will review methods of tackling the problem.
